Aftercare

Jess’s five rules for gel that lasts and natural nails that stay healthy underneath.

Use cuticle oil daily

It keeps the natural nail and the skin around it hydrated and healthy. If the nail dries out, the gel won’t last for the recommended time.

Keep regular appointments

Regular maintenance encourages natural nail health and growth. The longer you leave it between appointments, the higher the chance of breakages and a weakened nail plate. As a guide: gel polish every two to three weeks, BIAB infills every three to four.

Minimise soaking in water

Long baths and swimming soften the nails and can cause premature lifting. Keep soaks short, especially in the first day or two.

Don’t pick

Picking causes nail trauma and takes layers of your natural nail with it. If you want the gel off, have it removed professionally: a removal & tidy is £20, or £10 when you’re having a new set.

Wear gloves

Cleaning products and other chemicals dry out the hands, skin and nails, which affects how long the gel lasts and how it looks. Gloves for washing up and cleaning make a real difference.

If anything lifts or chips in the first few days, message Jess and it will be sorted.
